Battle interface

The main area of the window is taken up by an overhead, isometric
view of the battle map on which your forces are deployed and moved.
The main interface controls are along the bottom of the screen.
The bottom left side contains controls and information for selected
units. The bottom right side contains the play controls and scenario
information. The middle section contains map navigation controls
and player information.
THE LEFT PANEL
1) Unit name display: The name of the unit type
is displayed here.
2) Next unit/previous unit: The two buttons either
side of the unit name cycle selection between your units, centring
the screen on each selected unit. You can also use the ‘TAB’
key for the next unit.
3) Movement reaction buttons: Set rules of engagement
controlling a unit’s movement. The buttons are ‘Continue
on sighting’, ‘Halt on Sighting’ and ‘Retreat
on Sighting.’
4) Combat reaction buttons: Set rules of engagement
controlling a unit’s combat. The buttons are ‘Hold Fire/Attack’
and ‘Fire/Attack at will.’
5) Halt button: Instructs the unit to pause for
one second before continuing with further orders.
6) Undo button: Remove the last order for the
selected unit. You can also use the ‘U’ key for this.
7) Fire buttons: These switch the fire mode between
‘Direct Fire’, ‘Terrain Fire’ and ‘Opportunity
Fire.’
8) Unit display: The unit graphic is shown here
with symbols for the unit’s current rules of engagement settings
above.
9) Unit time display: This shows the estimated
time that the units current orders will take, in seconds.
10) Health and ammo display: These numbers show
the current health/original health of the units, and below that
the current ammunition/maximum ammunition.
11) Special action buttons: Units that have special
abilities will have additional buttons to activate those abilities.
THE RIGHT PANEL
12) Scenario type display: The type of scenario
being played.
13) Map name display: The name of the map.
14) Options button: Display the options screen.
This screen allows you to set the video and sound options, concede
the game, or quit the game.
15) Video controls: These buttons control the
play back of turn results or testing orders.
16) Game flow controls: These important controls
set the state of the game and end the turn. You can switch between
‘view results’, ‘issue orders’ and ‘test
orders’ as much as you like. The ‘end turn’ button
sends your orders to the game server.
THE CENTRE PANEL
17) Flat map button: Toggles the map display
between a flat map, with all walls and objects flattened, and the
nomal mode, with all walls and objects shown as normal.
18) Zoom buttons: There are zoom in and zoom
out buttons. The ‘reset’ buttons sets the zoom to the
default level.
19) Help button: Access the help screens for
the interface and information on the races and units.
20) Player name and score display: The name of
each player is shown here, along with their current score.
