SPAWN UNITS AND CLOSE COMBAT

Buzzers, Drones and Queens can only attack enemy units next to them. When you issue a fire order by right clicking on an enemy unit the Spawn unit will attempt to move next to the enemy unit and bite it once. Issue multiple attack orders to bite more times. If you issue a pursue orders by left clicking on an enemy unit the Spawn unit will attempt to attack the enemy unit continuously.

The ‘fire/attack at will’ engagement instruction will cause a close combat unit to move towards an enemy unit to attack it. This attack will only be triggered by enemy units within the vision range of your Spawn unit.

THE SPAWN QUEEN

The Queen unit has the ability to eat corpses and lay eggs that will hatch into new spawn units. In order to lay eggs the Queen needs to eat corpses or the remains of Machina units, and one or more eggs can be laid for each corpse eaten. If you have a Queen selected, the number of eggs available is shown as a number on the bottom left of the screen next to the Queen icon. There are also two special buttons that are used to issue ‘lay egg’ or ‘eat corpse’ orders.

In order to eat a corpse a Queen must be able to move over the top of the corpse. Issue a movement destination on the corpse location and press the ‘eat corpse’ button to issue the command. If the Queen is not given any orders she will automatically attempt to eat corpses nearby.

Eggs are laid under the Queen, and she must move away before the egg can hatch. After laying, the egg will grow rapidly and will hatch the next turn.

THE SPLATTER

The Splatter is a mobile bomb that can self-destruct. When you select a Splatter unit you will see a small ‘X’ button next to the Splatter icon on the bottom left interface panel. Press this button to issue an explode order. Alternatively you can give the Splatter a ‘pursue’ order to make it explode when it reaches the target unit.

THE GOO SPITTER

Goo Spitters can propel a globule of explosive, acidic goo that can trap units and injure them. Goo will dissipate fairly rapidly, but any unit caught in the goo, apart from Drones or flying units, will be stuck. Goo is impassable to all units except Drones and flying units.
