Weapon effects
DAMAGE AND WOUNDING
Each weapon has a damage rating that represents the average amount
of damage, or wounding, inflicted on a target unit. The actual damage
value inflicted for a particular attack will vary randomly between
50% and 150% of the damage rating. Once a damage value is determined,
the target unit’s armour value is subtracted. If there is
a positive damage value remaining, it is deducted from the target
unit’s endurance points. If a unit’s endurance points
reach zero, it is killed.
DAMAGE DISPLAY
Unit damage is shown by a bar across the top of the unit graphic
in the map. A green bar represents full health. It progressively
changes to red as the unit is damaged or injured. The current endurance
and maximum endurance are also shown as numbers in the unit panel.

DESTROYING TERRAIN
Walls, objects and floors have a strength value. If the damage
value of a weapon hit after random modification exceeds the strength
value, the terrain is destroyed. The percentage chance of destroying
terrain is shown when you hold down the right mouse button in terrain
fire mode.
EXPLOSIONS
Some weapons have explosive effects, some units will explode when
they are killed and some terrain will explode if destroyed. Explosions
affect a surrounding area and can damage any units that are caught
in the blast. Some terrain will be destroyed by explosions, but
other terrain will block the force of an explosion protecting units
behind it.
GOO
When a gooball explodes it spreads sticky goo around. This goo
will trap units that are caught in it, and they will be unable to
move. However, they can still fire. Flying units and the Spawn Drones
are not stuck in goo. Any unit standing in goo will slowly lose
endurance points due to injury caused by the powerful acid in the
goo. Flying units are not damaged by goo, because they can hover
above it. Goo will slowly disappear over time, freeing the trapped
units within it.
