Map creator screen

The map creator allows you to create your own maps which you can
test in hotseat mode.
CREATING A NEW MAP
When you enter the map editor you will be prompted for a map name
and the dimensions of the new map. Dimensions must be between 30
and 60. The tile set box should contain ‘city’. (There
will be additional tile sets available in the future).
EDITING AN EXISTING MAP
Instead of entering the name of a new map you can enter the name
of an existing map to edit. You don’t need to enter any dimensions
in this case.
THE MAP CREATOR VIEW
Once you have created or loaded a map you are presented with the
editing screen. The main elements of this are:
The map: This can be scrolled with the middle
mouse button or the arrow keys. To zoom in or out, hold the ‘Z’
key and roll the mouse wheel, or use the ‘+’ and ‘-’
keys on the keyboard. The current cursor position is displayed on
the bottom left of the screen.
The tile bar: On the right of the screen is a
scrolling display of map tiles. You can use the mouse wheel to scroll
this list, or use the ‘Q’ and ‘A’ keys.
The tile type selector: This set of radio buttons switches the type
of tile displayed in the tile bar between floors, walls and objects.
SAVE: Save the map to the maps directory in your
Laser Squad Nemesis folder.
QUIT: Return to the main screen.
MAP EDITOR CONTROLS
Placing tiles: Select a tile by clicking on the
tile bar on the right, then left click on the map view.
Deleting tiles: Right click on the map view and
a tile of the same type will be deleted e.g. if ‘floor’
type is selected then the right mouse button will delete only floors.
Fill: Hold down the ‘F’ key and left
click somewhere on the map to select the initial fill position,
then click again to select a second fill position. These two positions
define opposing corners of a rectangle which will be filled with
the selected tile.
Random fill: When you have a floor tile selected,
hold down the ‘R’ key and left click somewhere on the
map to select the initial fill position, then click again to select
a second fill position. A random fill will randomly select different
directions of the same floor tile to fill in the rectangle. This
is useful to break up repetitious patterns in floor tiles.
Copy and paste: Hold down the ‘C’
key and left click somewhere on the map to select the initial copy
position, then click again to select a second copy position. A rectangle
will appear showing the area to copy. While you are still holding
down the ‘C’ key, left click somewhere else in the map
to paste.
Grab tile from map: Move the mouse pointer over
a tile on the map and press the ‘G’ key. That tile will
then become the selected tile.
Set deployment zone: Move the cursor to a position
on the map, hold down the ‘D’ key and the left mouse
button, then move the map cursor to another position, then release
the left mouse button. This will define a rectangular deployment
position.
Change deployment side: Press the ‘T’
key to toggle between the two deployment sides. The challenging
players zones are blue, whereas the opponent’s zones are green.
Delete a deployment zone: Hold down the ‘D’
key and right-click somewhere on the edge line of a deployment zone.
