Sound and video options screen

This screen allows you to configure some important options that can dramatically affect the performance of the Laser Squad Nemesis software.

SCREEN MODE

Windowed (default): The game will run in a window, but you can resize it just like most other windows on your desktop. If your hardware supports accelerated 3D in a window, you should use this mode.

Full screen: Select this option if you need to run the game in full screen mode.

RESOLUTION

This option is only relevant if you are running in full screen mode. Reduce the resolution to improve performance.

TEXTURE RESOLUTION

If your video card has less than 16Mb of video memory then you should select ‘low resolution’ textures to improve performance. This option only applies if you have the ‘3D card’ option chosen for video hardware (see below).

SOUND

You can turn the sound off if you have no sound card or speakers, which will improve the performance of the software slightly. If you are experiencing random crashes, you can also try turning the sound off to see if it makes a difference.

VIDEO HARDWARE

If you have a 3D card you can use the ‘3D card’ option, but if you don’t have a 3D card you should use the ‘2D card’ option. The 2D mode does not have lighting effects and only 2 levels of zoom, but it should be much faster on a basic PC. The application will try to detect the best setting when it is first run, but you can always change it later. You will need to restart the Laser Squad Nemesis software after you change this setting before it will actually take effect.

PREFERRED SMTP SERVER

If you are having problems connecting to the Laser Squad Nemesis Game Server, you can send your orders via email through your ISP. Enter the domain name of your email server here. Consult your ISP or your system administrator for the correct mail server name to use. It will be something like ‘smtp.ispname.com.’
